Membership in the VIHJA is required to ensure riders accrue their competition points in the year, gives members the ability to vote at the Annual General Meeting and other Special Meetings, and that liabilities are effectively managed for the club, show organizers, and participants. It has long been a requirement that memberships be purchased prior to competing, and ensuring this has been an ongoing struggle for the association, and has taken considerable efforts to achieve. To make the membership process easier for all stakeholders, we instead will include membership as part of the regular VIHJA number fee that is applied to show entries. This application ensures that membership is applied on a per-entry basis, so all parties are covered. Those who show less than others will have a lower overall cost burden for membership.
If a competitor has multiple horses at a single event (i.e. more than two horses), please contact us directly and we can adjust your membership costs.
It is extremely important that our members are also members of Horse Council. This must be arranged prior to your first horse show! If you have not yet purchased your Horse Council membership, it’s very easy. You can purchase or renew your membership here. We will be checking these, and anyone that does not have their Horse Council membership will not accrue points, and may be prohibited from competing. To make this easier for the show office and membership director, please provide your HCBC numbers on your entry forms, or a photocopy of your 2018 membership card.
