The Board of Directors of the VIHJA are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a schooling event at the Saanich Fairgrounds, the VIHJA Summer Schooling Daze from July 30 to August 2. Hunters will be Thursday and Friday, Jumpers will be Saturday and Sunday.
We have worked with the Fairgrounds and Island Health to receive approval to host a socially distanced event where we can all get out to practice over our beautiful jumps in the sand arena.
In order to comply with health and insurance regulations, there will be very strict measures enforced at this event. Entries can only be accepted if the following have been sent to us before you enter the property:
- Signed COVID-19 Health Declaration
- Signed event waiver
- Online event registration
- Payment in full
The program and waivers are on the website, click here!
Entries will be handled with your trainer, as schooling times must be scheduled in advance and the VIHJA will send you an invoice for your entry directly. The only acceptable forms of payment will be credit card or e-transfer.
We are definitely missing our competitive season this year, and so we will be performing daily draws of all registered participants for fabulous prizes!
Please note: stabling will be limited and preference will be given to out-of-town participants. We recommend all local competitors trailer in and out for their scheduled time slot.
Face coverings will be required for all individuals who are not mounted, and gloves must be worn when handling equipment (such as jumps). Signage will be posted to remind you of rules, and we will reserve the right to remove you from the event if you do not comply with regulations.
Members: please let your trainers know if you want to participate as we will deal with them directly to handle scheduling. One person per horse, unless you are under 18 you may bring a parent.
Trainers: Click here for the online time slot request form so we can prepare the schedule, and invoice your clients for their entries. You may bring a groom with you.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the VIHJA by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. This is the best way to contact the group and event organizers. You can also reach the event committee by phone, Erin Robinson 250-882-1802 or Heather Love 250-217-1338.
Look forward to seeing you (from a distance)!
